LEBRON Opts Out of Contract with Miami Heat….

SO apparently this morning Lebron James informed Miami Heat, through his agent that he is exercising his early termination on his contract & will be a FREE AGENT as of July 1st. Where will he go? Will he come to LA? Did he leave because he couldn’t take the HEAT (pun intended)? Is he after his next ring? What are your thoughts on him becoming a FREE AGENT?

NY TIMES reports — Carmelo Anthony enjoyed the privilege of being the N.B.A.’s most coveted free agent for a little more than 36 hours. That ended Tuesday morning when it was revealed that LeBron James had informed the Miami Heat through his agent, Rich Paul, that he intends to exercise the early-termination option on his contract and become a free agent on July 1.

The news was not surprising — by opting out, James can explore other opportunities while putting leverage on the Heat to improve their roster — but it sent seismic tremors across the league, nonetheless. James, who has won two N.B.A. championships with the Heat, is widely regarded as the planet’s best player, and any team would love to have him.

The problem for most potential suitors, as is often the case amid the frenzy of free agency, is salary cap space. Most teams lack the financial flexibility to absorb the type of contract that James is sure to command, although he could be wooed by the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers (his former team), the Houston Rockets, the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers, who have oodles of cap space and have yet to hire a head coach.

The Heat, though, remain the favorite to retain his services. James, 29, has made four trips to the N.B.A. finals in four seasons in Miami, and he seems to enjoy playing there.

The Heat’s most recent trip to the finals, however, was a bit of a disaster, as the San Antonio Spurs — executing their smart and savvy style of basketball — steamrollered to the title in five games. The series exposed some of the Heat’s flaws, including their lack of depth, and guard Dwyane Wade’s physical limitations.

By opting out, James can restructure his deal with the Heat to help accommodate more players. But much of that could also hinge on what Wade and, to a lesser extent, Chris Bosh decide to do. Like James, Wade and Bosh have opt-out clauses in their contracts. But unlike James, they have yet to inform the Heat of their plans.

James was due to earn $20.6 million from the Heat next season.

BREAKING NEWS: STERLING BANNED FROM THE NBA FOR LIFE!!!

Capture

WELL DAMN FINED $2.5 MILLION & BANNED FROM THE NBA FOR LIFE. ADAM SILVER HAS THE BACKING FROM OWNERS & THE BOARD OF ADVISORY TO FORCE STERLING TO SELL THE TEAM.

THEY WILL HAVE A STANDING COMMITTEE LOOKING FURTHER INTO, STERLING HAVING TO SELL THE TEAM. IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT THE COMMITTEE WILL TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION HIS PAST BEHAVIOR. HE IS A KNOWN BIGOT & IT’S NOW BEEN AIRED. I STILL DO NOT AGREE ON HOW THE AUDIO WAS OBTAINED, BUT THAT IS NEITHER HERE NOR THERE!

THE RULING ONLY APPLIES TO STERLING AND NOT THE REST OF THE STERLING FAMILY. WILL ROCHELLE BE WILLING TO SELL, WILL HIS OWN FAMILY BUY HIM OUT?

MARK MY WORDS, MAGIC WILL BE THE NEXT OWNER OF THE CLIPPERS! AIN’T NO ONE FAAKING WITH OUR CITY, LOS ANGELES WON’T STAND DOWN!

Ah Snap! Magic Johnson & the Guggenheim Partners Want To Buy The Clippers!

LOL! Was this all a set up so Magic could buy the Clippers. He &  his Guggenheim Partners have been trying to buy the Lakers for sometime now, but the Buss family has made it very clear that the team is NOT for sale.

Was this a dirty publicity stunt to buy out Sterling? Dun dun dun…we shall see how this plays out.

Yahoo! Sports reports — For all these despicable revelations tumbling out of the hateful heart of Donald Sterling, there promises construction of a roadmap to redemption for the Los Angeles Clippers and the NBA. There’s a way out for the most hated man in Los Angeles now, a way out for the commissioner’s office and the owners responsible for long legitimizing and harboring a bigot and slumlord.

Magic Johnson and his billionaire backers, the Guggenheim Partners, want a chance to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports. “Magic’s absolutely interested,” one source closely connected to Johnson’s business interests told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night.

To bail themselves out of the NBA’s worst crisis of credibility since the Tim Donaghy officiating scandal, the easy part for the NBA will be enlisting the eagerness and financial muscle of Magic Johnson and Mark Walter of the Guggenheim Partners – owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

For commissioner Adam Silver, the chance to turn the Clippers over to Magic Johnson and his partners is the best possible of solutions. Exit Sterling, enter Magic. It would be the greatest trade in sports ownership history since, well, Magic for the McCourts, with the Dodgers.

Magic Johnson is the ultimate cleanser in sports, and steering a Clippers sale to him could be transformative for the franchise. Truth be told, it could change the balance of basketball power in Los Angeles forever. To keep Doc Rivers as president and coach, to hold together the core of a championship contender and keep building it, Magic can make it happen.

Make no mistake: Magic’s Dodgers group is angling for a Southern California sports empire. Magic Johnson and Guggenheim had been aggressive in pursuing a purchase of the Los Angeles Lakers – only to have the Buss family make clear to them the franchise isn’t for sale, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Nevertheless, this is business and Magic’s willing to change colors and make himself a Clipper. Between the Dodgers and Clippers, Magic Johnson could be the face of two championship contenders.

Magic could have it all.

“This is 100 percent Magic’s plan,” a league official intimately involved in the buying and selling of franchises told Yahoo Sports.

As an exit strategy, Sterling could walk away with a $1 billion-plus sales price for his franchise, and a final act of goodwill to soften his exile into the sports netherworld. Sterling will be reviled forever, but he has to understand clearing the way for Magic Johnson and the $200 billion-plus group backing him could be a decent farewell punctuating a most indecent ownership tenure. Sterling made Magic Johnson a part of those hideous audio tapes that have started to crumble his Clippers ownership, and here’s the old man’s way to make it right.

After all, he has little choice left. Sterling will never be able to sit courtside for a Clippers game again, never be able to march through his locker room glad-handing players. All the reasons Sterling has loved owning an NBA team, well, they’re all gone.

Across the league now, owners want Sterling out. They should’ve done so years ago, but understand every franchise will now pay a price for failing to remove Sterling. Finally, they’re pushing Silver to find a way. These owners are on the clock, and they know it.

“If the owners can’t force [Sterling] to sell, they need to be held accountable to change the bylaws so they can,” one member of the NBA’s Board of Governors told Yahoo Sports on Sunday. “A fine and suspension is meaningless, and that’ll be seen as a lack of acceptance that the league and owners are responsible for this ass—-.”

The Dodgers group is serious about owning an NBA team, and the league knows it. Together, they arranged for Johnson and the Guggenheim Partners to purchase the WNBA’s cash-strapped Los Angeles Sparks in February. The league office needed someone to spare it the embarrassment of the WNBA’s flagship franchise folding, and Magic and Guggenheim bailed it out. This hadn’t been born out of a sense of benevolence, but rather a pragmatic move to deeper ingratiate themselves with the NBA.

So Sunday, Johnson goes on national television and tells everyone: Donald Sterling should lose the Clippers. He’s right. The NBA will move to suspend Sterling in the short-term and turn its army of lawyers onto a way to force Sterling into a sale. Magic Johnson could always see the court, the next play, and it’s unfolding now. It won’t be easy. It won’t be tidy.

For now, it’s the ultimate escape plan for the NBA, the ultimate exit for Donald Sterling. Magic Johnson wants the Clippers, and it could change Los Angeles basketball – change the NBA – forever.

Oh Donald!!! How Could You Be So Ignorant?

Los Angeles Clippers owner Sterling puts his hand over his face in the second half of an NBA basketball game in Los AngelesThis story just gets better. So now V. Stiviano (“V”)  is writing a book! More than ever, I’m truly convinced that Donald Sterling (“Sterling”) was set up. V is currently being sued by Sterling’s estranged wife for over $1 million (lawsuit). Sterling’s wife claims V seduced/convinced Sterling into buying her lavish gifts bought with community funds. Could this be the reason she leaked the tape? Did she need money to pay Sterling’s wife back?

PLEASE DO NOT GET ME WRONG! I’m NOT defending the man by any means but that phone conversation was definitely scripted. V was definitely fishing for answers & set him up with the way she was questioning him. She is laughing all the way to the bank, it was too easy. I feel that she needs to be held accountable for her actions just as much as Sterling should.

Yes, Sterling is a racist MFKR but he isn’t the first white man to hate black or brown folks. What sickens me most is that ALL OF THE SUDDEN racism has been trending on every damn social media site/news station due to Sterling…how about we focus on the bigger picture…RACISM HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE AN ISSUE!

Let’s be honest for a moment. If it was a black/brown person that said I HATE WHITE PEOPLE this wouldn’t be such a big deal…this country is ass backwards. What is most upsetting is that this society makes it OK for people to hate “the white man”! There is no skeptical about that shit, but let a white man say he hates US & all hell breaks loose!

Prime example the owner, CHIVAS USA, fired two coaches because they weren’t Latino. They were fired for being white & not speaking Spanish. I don’t recall a HUGE skeptical over this lawsuit (it was a buzz for about 5 mins), do you? My point exactly! Check out the article…it’s completely insane! In my opinion LATINOS are some of the most racist people in the world, yea I said that SHIT! I can say it because I am Latina & I am raising a half black child. My OWN people look at me with disgust when they see me with my son, as if I stole candy from their kids or something.

It is extremely saddening that Sterling has such strong hate towards the Black & Hispanic/Latino races due to the Jewish history. The HOLOCAUST was the mass murder or genocide of approximately six million Jews during World War II, a program of systematic state-sponsored murder by Nazi Germany, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, throughout the German Reich and German-occupied territories.

Of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe before the Holocaust, approximately two-thirds were killed. Over one million Jewish children were killed in the Holocaust, as were approximately two million Jewish women and three million Jewish men. A network of over 40,000 facilities in Germany and German-occupied territory were used to concentrate, hold, and kill Jews and other victims.

Again I am NOT defending Sterling whatsoever, so let’s not misconstrue my words…I am simply voicing my opinion. As a Latina, I am offended by Sterling’s words but we have been hated/discriminated against forever. It’s an uphill battle for colored folks on a daily basis, especially Black & Hispanic/Latinos because we are constantly stereo-typed. Then again so are white people, they are looked at as slave traders, unethical, dirty white trash, bigots etc…I can admit I have said a racial slur such as “Fuck that white bitch” or “I hate white bitches”…I know damn well you have too (maybe not those exact words, but you know what I mean)! Does this make me a racist no, it just makes me imperfect.

I do NOT harness any hatred in my heart toward any individual, simply because we are ALL children of GOD. If GOD can forgive heinous acts of man, why can’t we as a country? We can’t we build each other instead of knocking each other down?

SPORTS: Jason Collins 1st Athlete Athlete in a Major American Team Sport to Say He Is Gay!

Love this! I came across this article & felt the need to share it with ya’ll if you haven’t seen it! I think this is a HUGE step in the gay community & I am damn proud of Jason Collins for coming forward NOW & not waiting until he retired or something. Being GAY should never be frowned upon, we are all HUMAN & have rights being so!

“I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay. - Jason Collins

“I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay. – Jason Collins

Sports Illustrated reports — I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.

I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, “I’m different.” If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.

My journey of self-discovery and self-acknowledgement began in my hometown of Los Angeles and has taken me through two state high school championships, the NCAA Final Four and the Elite Eight, and nine playoffs in 12 NBA seasons.

I’ve played for six pro teams and have appeared in two NBA Finals. Ever heard of a parlor game called Three Degrees of Jason Collins? If you’re in the league, and I haven’t been your teammate, I surely have been one of your teammates’ teammates. Or one of your teammates’ teammates’ teammates.

Now I’m a free agent, literally and figuratively. I’ve reached that enviable state in life in which I can do pretty much what I want. And what I want is to continue to play basketball. I still love the game, and I still have something to offer. My coaches and teammates recognize that. At the same time, I want to be genuine and authentic and truthful.
Why am I coming out now? Well, I started thinking about this in 2011 during the NBA player lockout. I’m a creature of routine. When the regular season ends I immediately dedicate myself to getting game ready for the opener of the next campaign in the fall. But the lockout wreaked havoc on my habits and forced me to confront who I really am and what I really want. With the season delayed, I trained and worked out. But I lacked the distraction that basketball had always provided.

The first relative I came out to was my aunt Teri, a superior court judge in San Francisco. Her reaction surprised me. “I’ve known you were gay for years,” she said. From that moment on I was comfortable in my own skin. In her presence I ignored my censor button for the first time. She gave me support. The relief I felt was a sweet release. Imagine you’re in the oven, baking. Some of us know and accept our sexuality right away and some need more time to cook. I should know — I baked for 33 years.

When I was younger I dated women. I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue.

I realized I needed to go public when Joe Kennedy, my old roommate at Stanford and now a Massachusetts congressman, told me he had just marched in Boston’s 2012 Gay Pride Parade. I’m seldom jealous of others, but hearing what Joe had done filled me with envy. I was proud of him for participating but angry that as a closeted gay man I couldn’t even cheer my straight friend on as a spectator. If I’d been questioned, I would have concocted half truths. What a shame to have to lie at a celebration of pride. I want to do the right thing and not hide anymore. I want to march for tolerance, acceptance and understanding. I want to take a stand and say, “Me, too.”

Jay-Z Launches Roc Nation Sports Teams With CAA to Co-Represent Robinson Cano

This man is definitely about his empire! Division will be headed by Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter and Juan Perez

Variety reports — Having already built a strong brand and business model in the music world, Roc Nation is launching Roc Nation Sports and will co-partner with CAA to represent athletes.

Founded by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter in 2009, the company is a full-service management consulting, media and entertainment company and record label. Its new sports division has already signed its first client: New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, who had been repped by sports agent Scott Boras.

The division will be headed by Carter and Juan Perez, who will serve as president.

“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” said Carter.

Cano will be represented on the field by a team of agents led by CAA Sports’ Brodie Van Wagenen.  Since Opening Day 2011, CAA Sports’ baseball group has negotiated more than $1.1 billion in Major League contracts, including eight contracts with a guaranteed value of $50 million or more, of which four exceed $100 million — more than any other agency.

Given the resources both companies can provide a client, the idea is as more sign up both companies will help with their representation.

SPORTS: Oh Snap! Will Kobe Play Against the Wizards?

LA Times reports — According to Kobe Bryant’s Twitter feed, the Lakers All-Star guard is probable for the Lakers’ battle at Staples Center Friday night against the Washington Wizards.

Capture

A Lakers spokesman confirmed that Pau Gasol and Bryant are probable to start against the Wizards.  Gasol has missed more than six weeks with a foot injury.  Bryant has been out for almost three full games with a sprained ankle. Gasol would get the nod over Earl Clark at power forward.

Coach Mike D’Antoni initially expressed concern about Gasol’s conditioning after so much time off and considered using him off the bench for a few games.  D’Antoni, though, prefers to start Gasol, despite benching him earlier in the season for Clark.

It’s likely that Gasol will start with his playing time closely monitored until his conditioning improves.

The Utah Jazz are playing in San Antonio on Friday as well.  A Lakers (36-33) victory coupled with a Utah (34-34) loss would put the Lakers 2 1/2 games ahead of the ninth-place Jazz.

Dwight Stays in LA: Dwight Howard won’t be traded, Mitch Kupchak says

According to the Washington Post — With the NBA trade deadline approaching at 3 p.m. EST, one player is going nowhere: Unless General Manager Mitch Kupchak is the world’s best bluffer, the Los Angeles Lakers will hold onto Dwight Howard.

“We’ve been very consistent,” Kupchak said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” (via ESPN). “We’re not trading Dwight Howard. … He will not be traded, and there’s nothing that anybody can do today to call me today and ask me, ‘Would you do this?’ and get a positive result.”

All righty then. Of course, Howard can render all the affection moot if he decides to become a free agent when the season ends.

“The only thing that matters is right now,” Howard said. “Nobody can control what happens in the offseason. Like I said to you guys before, there’s no need to talk about it every day.

“There’s no need for me to make a decision right now. My goal hasn’t changed. I want to win a championship and I want to win one here. I’m here right now and this is our chance to get one this season. It’s been tough, but we have an opportunity to change all that.”

Kupchak was a little less adamant about trading Pau Gasol, who is out with torn plantar fascia.

“We’re not going to trade Pau today or tomorrow, but his name has come up in the past, and it would be misleading to say it won’t come up in the future,” Kupchak said.

YES! There Is Hope For The Lakers, BROWN Gets Fired!!!

Well DAMN, I am having a shitty Friday but this just made it better! I am so happy that they got rid of BROWN, now if ONLY Phil would come out of retirement.

LA Times reports — The Lakers have fired Mike Brown as coach after the team’s 1-4 start, according to a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly about it. Brown was barely a month into his second season with the team, which struggled badly amid high expectations.

[Updated at 10:45 a.m.: Assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will coach tonight’s game against Golden State but the Lakers will conduct a national search for a long term replacement. Candidates could include Mike D’Antoni, Jerry Sloan, Nate McMillan and Phil Jackson.]

It was believed to be the earliest firing of a coach in the team’s history. Del Harris was relieved of his duties 12 games into the 1999 season. The Lakers were 41-25 in Brown’s first season, losing to Oklahoma City in the second round of the playoffs. The team has had trouble picking up Brown’s Princeton-based offense and has also lagged defensively.

SPORTS: Floyd Mayweather Jr. Reports To Jail

LA Times reports — Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. entered jail in Clark County, Nev., Friday, beginning an 87-day sentence for reduced domestic battery charges involving the mother of his three children.

Five-division champion Mayweather (43-0) wore a gray sweatsuit and sneakers in court Friday, saying nothing as a judge informed him he had fulfilled community service requirements. He was then handcuffed and escorted from the courtroom.

“He’ll be all right,” rapper  50 Cent, a friend of Mayweather’s, told reporters outside the courthouse.

Mayweather turned himself in after Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa originally delayed his sentence following his December plea bargain for misdemeanor domestic battery, allowing him to fight and defeat Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto on May 5 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather won by unanimous decision and earned a guaranteed $32 million.

Inside the high-rise Clark County Detention Center, Mayweather is expected, as a high-profile inmate, to spend his time in a solo cell no larger than seven by 12 feet without a television, and have about an hour of exercise time permitted each day, Las Vegas police spokesman Bill Cassell told the Associated Press this week.
